Beautifully Broken

Compassion International

Founded in 1952, Compassion International is a Christian child development organization that works to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Compassion revolutionized the fight against global poverty by working exclusively with the Church to lift children out of spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty. Compassion’s program has been validated through independent, empirical research.

African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries

We believe that the crisis facing Africa is not poverty or disease, but a lack of good leaders who put the needs of their communities and churches above their personal and tribal interests. At ALARM, we train Christian leaders who focus on the wellbeing of the whole community, who unite people and provide opportunity for growth: spiritually, socially, and economically. We address the root causes of tribalism, oppression, injustice, and violence by developing servant leaders who bring healing to broken relationships through the ministry of reconciliation. Without reconciled relationships, no community or nation can truly experience stability, peace, and development.

What is so different about ALARM is how we approach our vision. We are African-led and African-staffed. We empower superbly qualified African Christian staff to do ministry in their own countries, where they’re intimately connected to the people, the languages, and the culture. While we invite guest teachers from the West from time to time, our staff have the latitude to make decisions, to do their work, and to dream for their nations.
